Update

Baby Benjamin update - Most recent:The breathing tube has been removed. Benjamin is resting. The anesthesia had caused our little guy's blood vessels to clamp down (pulmonary hypertension) as they had before ECMO. In doing so, his blood pressure had severely dropped and he was unable to receive oxygen as he normally should through his lungs. Medications were administered that helped get things under control. Surgery has been put off until a later date.

 

  Baby Benjamin update - earlier today: Benjamin did not react well to the anesthesia in the OR. His blood pressure dropped to dangerous levels and he is receiving medication to stabilize it. The operation was put on hold and he will be monitored closely through the day and night. He will be on a breathing tube until he recovers. This was not an allergic reaction to the anesthesia but rather a reaction due to his pulmonary hypertension. His lungs have not healed enough yet to endure the anesthesia. Pray for his recovery.
