China report. December 2-22 2011. Part two.

He Zheng.
A while after we arrived we went out to try to find a bus station which proved to be quite a task. We asked the taxi driver to take us to a bus station that could take us to Linxia. He took us to a street corner and started saying something in Chinese and pointing. We could see no bus station or buses, just a market. We finally figured out that a van would come through that could take us to Linxia. There was a whole crowd of people gathered around trying to figure out what was going on. It was very confusing. We did not know the time the bus left. Which meant we might not be able to get out of town when we needed to the next morning, and it would be hard finding the right van cuz there were a few. So we asked about a bus to a town called Xiahe( Pronounced Shakah). Could really figure that out either. So we headed back to the hotel.
That evening we crumbed He Zheng. It was a very cold night, with snow falling lightly. Thankfully the snow kept most people inside. We crumbed for an hour or two, till we ran out, then went back to the hotel to re-load and crumb some more. He Zheng was a pretty big town so we got them out rather fast.
We got up early the next morning to leave. Checked out and asked if they could call a taxi, which they said they could not. There were very very taxi's out at that time which is rather unusual. There are usually taxi out at that time. Me and Dad walked down to the main street to see if there were any taxi's there, there were only a few, we would have to get 2 cuz we could not be able to get all our stuff into one. So Dad waved down a van and asked him where we could get a ride to Linxia. He was really helpful. He ended up taking us. He said he would take us to Linxia for 400 yuan. We asked how much for him to take us to Xiahe,  he said 600. We ended up agreeing on 500. About $75 US. We were very thankful to be on our way. We got out of the town sometime around 7:30-8:00. Kinda late. The ride was really cool. Lots of mountains. There was quite a bit of ice on the road though. We saw several cars that had crashed.
